As 2009 comes to a close it’s important for me to express my gratitude for your continued loyalty and support.  The current economic conditions created a difficult year for most, especially within our industry.  Throughout this challenging time I’ve seen our customers and KM representatives engage in meaningful conversations to increase efficiency and discover innovative cost saving solutions.  Looking ahead to 2010 I’m certain that this dialogue will continue to provide you with profitable results and increased viability in the coming years.

NEW Product Announcements 
from Sumitomo

AC820P/AC830P
The ultra hard and ultra smooth Super FF coating of these next generation steel turning grades improves both heat and wear resistance for increased speeds and feeds. Together the AC820P and the AC830P machine applications ranging from finishing to general purpose to heavy roughing in steel and stainless steel.

Metal Slash Mills
The unique design of our Metal Slash Mill directs cutting forces into the machine spindle to achieve feed rates of up to 0.078” IPT, even in low rigidity conditions. A four-corner insert (screw on assembly) design yields low tooling costs per part. U.S. stock bodies are available in 2.000” - 4.000” diameters. Available with:
• ACP100 CVD coated grade for high-speed and wet cutting of steels and stainless steels
• ACP200 PVD coated grade for general purpose milling of steels and stainless steels
• ACP300 PVD coated grade for interrupted machining of steels and stainless steels
• ACK200 CVD coated grade for general purpose milling of gray and ductile cast irons
• ACK300 PVD coated grade for general to interrupted machining of gray and ductile cast irons

X-Bar Boring Bars
Designed for deep-hole boring, our revolutionary anti-vibration X-Bar features a special dampening mechanism that eliminates chatter and results in extremely fine finishes and extra long tool life. Ideal for extended overhangs, the X-Bar provides smooth finishes at up to 6X the length to diameter. The X-Bar is priced to compete with a solid carbide bar and offers performance superior to a steel bar. It is ideal for step boring, bottom facing and copying. All X-Bars are coolant thru and available with CCMT, TCMT and TPMT style inserts in a wide variety of chipbreakers - including our new ELU and ESU. Shank sizes range from 0.500 - 1.000” diameter.

Micro Deburring Equipment from Earth-Chain
The sPINner performs batch deburring on small, precision parts, like these without the need for hand burring...in minutes!

The sPINner eliminates hand deburring without affecting tolerances or damaging delicate parts.  The machines are easy to operate in just 5 steps.

1. Cover bottom of pail with media
2. Add parts side-by-side
3. Add deburring machine solution until parts and media are covered by 1/4"
4. Program speed and time and "Start"
5. Strain media from parts when cycle finishes.

The sPINner deburring machine works best on small, precision parts, made from non-ferrous metals including: aluminum, brass, copper, stainless steel, and titanium.

SG-Low Spiral Taps

These taps were run at a customer in Michigan and tap life was more than 10 times the closest competitor!

This tap is designed for steels but the test results for this customer was in ductile and gray iron.

Features: 
• Made exclusively from Premium High Speed Steel (HSSE material)

• 15°Helix angle designed to achieve an easy fl ow of chips and maintain the strength of cutting edge.

• Flute shape has been designed to avoid chips from wrapping around the shank especially during horizontal tapping applications.

• Designed for tapping Pre-hardened steel, Die-steel, Tool Steels, Alloy Steels up to 40 Hrc.

• SG Coated (Tin+TiCN) coated to enhance abrasion resistance. SG coating is tough for harder applications and has a small coefficient of abrasion.
